John
Meet John Wahiu Kuria!
Born in 1996 in Gatundu, John is the seventh born in a family of nine. Both parents died when he was very young. His grandmother could not afford to provide for the family and he had to drop out of school. He said that food at home was almost just a vocabulary word. At his adoption at CCRC, he was suffering from malnutrition and was heavily infested with jiggers (burrowing fleas) in his feet, but now is healthy. John enjoys swimming and traveling and would like to be a lecturer or footballer when he is grown.
